Well, having served my mission in Taiwan I pretty much know about tea, that is about black tea, red tea, green tea, etc. and I’ve always avoided those drinks, but I never really paid much attention to the herbal teas, like chamomile, peppermint, raspberry, lavender, dandelion, etc. They are actually pretty yummy tasting and are quite good for you.

On the HCG diet, you can drink as much tea, coffee and water as you would like. Since I have never drunk tea or coffee before, I thought I might give a few of those herbal teas a try since I will absolutely never drink coffee of any sort. I have been pleasantly surprised.

It has helped me when I couldn’t chug water down in the early morning, it has helped act as a natural laxative since the HCG makes you a little backed up. TMI? Sorry. Anyway, I’m excited to try out different kinds as well in the future. I for sure can’t drink them very hot and can’t wait to try them chilled, when I warm up a little. I’m just always so cold lately.

So anyway, the news of the day is:

I lost another 12 oz., so that means I’m almost down 14 lbs. The weight drop will begin to decrease in the amount down to .6 or .8 on average per day, so I’m geared up to suffer with a slower weight loss, but hey, 1/2 lb, is 1/2 lb. right? I’ll take it.

I’ve had some trouble getting my fruit in. I’m just not that hungry, but I try to get at least one in per day. It is my TOM so I am really craving chocolate and salty things. Crazy what our minds do to us.

I still haven’t cheated and I have no plans of backing down!!

Well, I had planned to update this daily, but I’m behind, so I’ll just include everything in this post and hopefully I’ll do better in the future.

My load days went well because I haven’t had any troubles with headaches. I really struggled on the 3rd day of the Low Calorie Diet- 500 calories/day. It really wasn’t physical hunger I was dealing with, but my mind wanted to eat. It was totally psychological. I wish that I had taken the time to write what I was feeling because I think it would help me in the future, but I basically learned that probably 90% of the food I was eating before was just because my mind wanted it because I was bored, stressed or just unaware. Crazy.

That was the only really hard day. I had a headache on the 6th day, but I think that was because my eyes hurt from my contacts. Other than that, this has been very doable, and I’m hardly hungry. I can feel my stomach and body at work breaking down all those fats and that feels nice. I am drinking at LEAST 2 quarts of water each day and absolutely LOVE my strawberries after dinner and I look forward to that each day.

So, here are the results of this diet so far:

Day 1 & 2: Load Days - gained .8lbs
Day 3: Low Calorie- lost 2.4 lbs
Day 4: Low Calorie- lost 4.6 lbs
Day 5: Low Calorie- lost 1.0 lbs
Day 6: Low Calorie- lost 1.0 lbs
Day 7: Low Calorie- lost 1.0 lbs
Day 8: Low Calorie- lost 1.0 lbs
Day 9: Low Calorie- lost 1.0 lbs

So in 9 days I have lost a total of 12 lbs. Not bad huh? I feel great. I’ve already lost a few inches I can tell. I can no longer where my size 16 pants, they are way way baggy, so I’m excited. This round goes for 40 days and there can be an expected weight loss of up to 30 lbs. Yeah. I don’t know if I’ll do another round after this, we’ll see if I need to, but right now, I’m just so glad I’m on the road. So far I’ve lost 1/4 of my weight to reach my goal. Wahoo!

It’s time to load up...

So, the way this diet works is pretty cool, because the first two days you start the diet, you get to load up all the food you can eat. Sounds heavenly doesn’t it? Well, actually, it’s quite hard, especially after you’ve made up your mind to lose weight and have done research about food and what it does to your body.

I definitely wanted to do a good job of loading up though, because from all of the testimonials I have read and all that I researched, it showed that the people who loaded up really well had less trouble during the 6 week Low Calorie Diet (500 calories to be exact, I’ll talk about that later) and had significantly less headaches, or hunger issues.

I picked my favorite foods and ate them slowly because I knew it would be my last time for most of them. And I mean last time, as in LAST TIME! I’m done with turning to those types of foods that make you feel good at the moment, but leave a lasting impression on my body. Don’t get me wrong, I plan on going out on occasional dates or to an occasional party and indulging in a few bites, but I will never eat the way I have been eating for the last 15+ years again.

So anyway, here are a few foods that I chose to load up with. I will note here, that it made me pretty sick to eat this much. I’ve never eaten that much in one day before, let alone for two days. I’d been used to maybe a big dinner before, but not breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus desserts galore. It made me really kind of grossed out and I don’t want to eat that food again for a very long time, if ever again.

It’s SUCKS to be obese!

I’ve been psyching myself up for the diet for a few weeks now and I’m feeling pretty excited. I’m going to use it to lose it and be done with it. I’m tired of being fat. I didn’t know that you’re considered obese of you are 30 or more pounds overweight. That’s pretty sad. I had to say it out loud, like an alcohol anonymous class, “hello, my name is Melinda Christensen and I am OBESE!” Ouch, that really hurts to say out loud. The truth is ...

I DON’T WANT TO BE OBESE!!!!!!!!!!!!

... I don’t even want to be semi overweight. I’m not meant to be this way and I don’t have to be this way. I have the power within me to change my circumstance. Our bodies weren’t designed to carry all of this extra weight and still maintain a healthy life. It’s impossible.

Plus, people just treat you differently when you’re fat. It’s not very fun, in fact I hate it. I hate it so much right now, that I’m finally doing something about it.

Some of the things that I want to accomplish on this diet are:

• to break bad habits of always grazing and eating off of the kids’ plates because I don’t want to waste food. I’ve always had that mentality, wether at home or eating out. I don’t need to finish the plate. I stop when I’m full, and even a little before that.
•	I want to stop eating all of the sugars and starches and crap that I typically put in to my body each day. This will break those habits.
•	I want to learn to eat smaller portions.
•	I want to lose quickly and effectively.
•	I want to be more aware of my body, how it functions, what it likes and doesn’t like.
•	I want to drink more water, which is a natural cleanser and cure for your body. I have to drink at least 2 quarts a day, but I plan on drinking at least 3.

I know that I can do this and I’m ready for change and can’t wait to get started tomorrow. Of course, tomorrow and Tuesday are the not so hard days of this diet, since I get to eat ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT style to stock up. I will start the injections tomorrow, and tell you more about the diet plan and how it works in tomorrows entry.
